Overview
Amazon Linux 2 for AWS Snow Family is a Linux image that has been tested and optimized for use on AWS Snow Family devices such as Snowball Edge and Snowcone. To add Amazon Linux 2 to your Snow device, create an EC2 instance from this marketplace product. Once the instance is launched, add any applications or data you want on your instance and then save it as an AMI. You will then be able to select that AMI when creating a job for a Snow device. Please refer to the Snow Family documentation in the Additional Resources section below for more information. The EC2 pricing below applies only to the duration that you use the instance you launch from this marketplace product in order to create the AMI that you add to your Snow device. Using the Amazon Linux 2 AMI on the Snow device does not incur any additional charges other than the standard Snow device job and per-day fees.
Amazon Linux 2 is a supported and maintained Linux image provided by Amazon Web Services for use on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2). It provides a stable, secure, and high performance execution environment. Amazon Web Services provides ongoing security and maintenance updates to all instances running Amazon Linux 2 AMIs.
